演讲人简介：熊存瑞，美国西密西根大学历史系教授。原是中国社会科学院考古所硕士（1982），导师为中国科学院副院长暨考古所所长夏鼐，1984年赴澳专攻中国中古史，获国立澳洲大学获博士学位（1989）。主要著作：1.Historical Dictionary of Medieval China (Scarecrow Press, 2009)； 2.Sui-Tang Chang'an: A Study in the Urban History of Medieval ChinaI (Center for Chinese Studies, University of Michigan, 2000)；3.Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty: His Life, Times, and Legacy (State U of New York Press, 2006) 另有译著《史通》。A Thorough Exploration in Historiography: an annotated translation of the Shitong by the Tang court historiographer Liu Zhiji (661–721).；曾任西密西根大学学术委员和Early Medieval China 主编（1-5卷）。
